What this is
Legal Tool Index publishes buying guides for legal software. Each guide compares the tools a particular buyer actually shortlists, states a real price wherever one exists, and says plainly who each tool suits and who it does not.
We write for the person doing the buying: in-house legal teams, commercial and operations teams, and law firms. Not for vendors.
Who publishes it
Legal Tool Index is published by Genie AI Ltd, a UK company that makes GenieAI, a contract platform. That is a commercial interest in part of the market we cover, and pretending otherwise would make everything else here worth less.
So: where GenieAI appears in a guide, we label it, we rank it where it genuinely belongs rather than at the top, and we state its limitations in the same detail as every other tool. In our contract review guide it is ranked third, and we name three things it does not do well.
How we handle the conflict
Three rules, and they are enforced by the build rather than by good intentions. A guide will not publish if it lists GenieAI without a substantive limitation. Every tool gets the same fields: verdict, price, features, limitations. And we cover categories we do not compete in at all, because a guide that only covers our own patch is a brochure.
We take no payment for placement, and there are no affiliate links on this site. If that changes, this page changes first.
Corrections
Prices move and products change. If something here is wrong, we would rather know: every guide carries the date it was last checked, and we correct the text rather than only changing the date.
