Alex Hutchinson reviews and edits every guide on this site before it publishes.
He read Economics and Philosophy at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, graduating in 2009, and took his Juris Doctor at Columbia Law School in 2014, concentrating on commercial law, evidence, and the regulation of emerging technology.
He was admitted to practise in the State of New York in 2015, and to the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York in 2016.
From 2015 to 2022 he practised commercial litigation in-house at several large technology companies in New York, handling contractual disputes, technology and software licensing cases, shareholder claims and internal corporate investigations. Alongside that he took pro bono work on wrongful convictions and access to public records.
He now consults independently for large businesses on in-house legal technology enablement and procurement, with a focus on AI adoption. That is the experience he brings to these guides: he has sat on the buying side of most of the tools we cover.
